Generator DC

The new Generator Washington D.C. opened in late December 2019, located in the historic district of Dupont Circle in the heart of downtown Washington. Previously a tired Marriott Courtyard Hotel, the hotel has been undergoing a refurbishment of the public area spaces, at the heart of which will be a new bar & restaurant.

Tucked behind reception lies the property’s onsite restaurant, Mister Dupont. The restaurant’s design is inspired by the DuPont Circle of bygone eras with a 1970s/1980s Punk Rock vibe. Guests enter through a corridor lit by warm red lighting, at once discovering the expansive bar. Throughout the bar area, bold accents are woven into sleek and sultry furnishings. Banquette seating is framed by curated objects d’art for a more secluded private dining experience. Additional decor elements of note include custom disco balls, chartreuse lounge chairs, and rounded sofas in shades of burnt orange well-suited for post-dinner drinks.

The branding of F&B in the local market is alpha and male centric. Examples like Le Diplomat, Kingbird, The Admiral. Hence the direction of the name Mister Dupont. The concept is male orientated, localized to the neighborhood, but also fun to play with. You can call someone popular in the Neighborhood, “Oh he’s Mister Dupont.”
